Correlations of Serum T4 Levels with T4/TBG and TSH/TBG Ratios in the Thyroid Diseases.

Abstract
|
|
|
To evaluate the correlations of serum free T4 levees with T4/TBG and TSH/ TBG ratios in the thyroid diseases, serum concentrations of free T4, T4, T3, TBG and TSH were measured by radioimmun assay in 38 cases of normal group, 19 cases of pregnant women, 15 cases of hyperthyroid and 10 cases of hypothyroid groups.
The results were as follows;
1. Serum free T4 levels were significantly increased in hyperthyroid and decreased in hypothyroid groups(p<0.001).
2. Serum TBG levels were remarkably higher in pregnant, hyperthyroid and hypothyroid groups than in normal group(p<0.001).
3. Serum TSH levels were considerably reduced in hyperthyroid and elevated in hypothyroid group(p<0.001).
4. Serum free T4 levels showed a positive correlation with T4/TBG ratios (r=0.53) and a negative correlation with TSH/TBG ratios(r=-0.71. )
